A new series of 12 stainless steel double universal joints with ball splines from Sterling Instrument feature telescoping extension slides designed for use where, due to axial motion, the distance between driver and driven shafts may vary up to 6 mm. Applications for these zero backlash U-joints include their use in business and vending machines plus varied instrumentation applications. Five miniature models, identified as the S57PY5MDUT Series, are designed to transmit power at a maximum operating angle of 60° and a maximum operating speed of 10000 rpm @
0o angle. Seven inverted models, identified as the S57PY4MDFUT Series, are designed to transmit power at a maximum operating angle of 40° and a maximum operating speed of 4000 rpm @
0o angle.
These telescoping U-joints are designed to fit shafts between 2.5 mm and 14 mm in diameter. The U-joints have an O.D. ranging from 4.76 mm to 25.41 mm with overall lengths when closed of 38.1 mm to 130 mm.
