New Series of 5 Miniature In-Line Slip Clutches from Sterling Instrument Feature Unique Multiplate Design

A new series of 6 miniature slip clutches introduced by Sterling Instrument features a unique multiplate design plus special friction materials which enable the units to apply the correct preset or adjustable torque from the first cycle to over 25,000,000 cycles. The torque range is fully adjustable, with the turn of a knurled adjusting nut. The smallest unit features a torque range of .3 oz.in. to 32 oz.in., while the torque range for the largest unit is 16 oz. in. to 1200 oz.in. Identified as the S98CA6- Polyclutch Series, they are ideal in compact designs to control tension on paper, film, wire, etc. in paper handling, packaging equipment, conveyors, textile machinery or other applications requiring "cushioned" starts or braking action.
The standard units are designed to accommodate shaft diameters of 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". They can be provided on request to accommodate special shaft diameters. The housings range in length from 1.06" to 2.87" and in diameter from 1" to 2.75". The two smallest units have zinc plated steel housings, whereas the larger 4 units feature aluminum housings.
