Synchronous timing belts with a 3/8" (9.525 mm) pitch, along with the option of aluminum, steel, or molded plastic pulleys, offer a versatile and reliable solution for a wide range of applications. These belts, which can be equipped with steel or aluminum inserts depending on the pulley material, are easily customizable to suit non-standard design requirements, making them highly adaptable.
Pitch Size & Materials:
The 3/8" (9.525 mm) pitch is a common size for many industrial applications, providing a balance between precision and load-carrying capacity.
Pulleys are available in aluminum, steel, or molded plastic with either steel or aluminum inserts. This allows for flexibility in choosing materials that best suit the specific application in terms of strength, weight, and cost.
Ideal for Low-Speed, High-Torque Applications:
Synchronous drives are particularly well-suited for low-speed, high-torque applications. These are typically systems where maintaining precise, slip-free motion is critical, such as in conveying systems, industrial machinery, and robotics. When operating at speeds of 50 ft./min. or less, these drives are considered low-speed and are designed to handle high torque loads without compromising performance.
Positive Drive (No Slippage):
One of the key advantages of synchronous drives is their positive driving nature, meaning there is no slippage between the belt and the pulley. Unlike V-belt drives, which can experience energy losses and reduced efficiency due to slippage, synchronous drives maintain constant, reliable engagement between the teeth of the belt and the pulleys.
Greater Torque Carrying Capacity:
Synchronous drives can transmit significantly greater torque compared to V-belts, making them ideal for high-load, high-torque environments. The precise engagement of the teeth ensures that torque is transferred efficiently, even under heavy load conditions.
Customization and Modifications:
When a non-standard item is required for your design, modifications can be made quickly. This includes changes to the pulley material, tooth profiles, or belt lengths, which provides a high degree of flexibility for specialized applications.
Synchronous drives with 3/8" pitch are a reliable choice for low-speed, high-torque applications where precision, torque transmission, and efficiency are essential. Their non-slip, positive driving action, combined with customizable options for pulleys and materials, makes them a versatile solution for various industrial and mechanical systems.

To complement these belts, a full range of XL timing belt pulleys is available in aluminum, steel, molded plastic, and hybrid configurations combining plastic with aluminum hubs or inserts. These standardized pulley options are suitable for most applications, while custom-designed pulleys can be developed for more specialized systems. With in-house engineering expertise and scalable manufacturing, from prototypes to full production runs, tailored belt and pulley systems can be created to deliver optimal fit, function, and efficiency.
XL timing belts offer precision, durability, and versatility, making them ideal for high-performance environments. Constructed from robust materials and often reinforced with steel or fiberglass cords, these belts deliver accurate, repeatable motion and resist stretch and wear—even in oil-rich or harsh environments. Their design is suitable for both light-duty systems such as 3D printers and lab automation, as well as heavy-duty applications like industrial conveyors, packaging machinery, and CNC equipment. Whether you need a reliable standard solution or a fully customized drive system, XL timing belts and pulleys provide a cost-effective and high-performance option for today’s demanding motion control systems.
